A FAMILY STORY OF VINE TO WINE…

Situated in one of the most magnificent wine locations in the world, nestling against the slopes of the Groenberg in the shadow of the Limiet Mountains near Wellington, South Africa, lies Bosman Family Vineyards.

On this picturesque farm the legacy of eight generations of wine loving people are dotingly carried forward in both vine and wine. Well-balanced and elegant wines are made in the time-honoured tradition integrated with a heap of modern innovation.

Our History

At Bosman Family Vineyards a wine legacy of eight generations are respectfully continued on Lelienfontein Estate after the first generation settled on the farm in 1798. The farm was originally issued to French Huguenot, Philip de Royan in 1699 by Governor of the time, Willem Adriaan van der Stel.

After the last wines were made on Lelienfontein in 1956, as well as a previous rich history in winemaking on this farm, the Bosman family started to focus more on their vine nursery for business reasons. After an absence of winemaking for 51 years, the first wine was released from their newly renovated 250 year old cellar in 2007.

Our Philosophy

Two centuries of experience in cultivating vineyard material, knowledge of the terroir and vineyards where only the best grapes are selected for their own wines, made this cellar’s journey to produce boutique style wines that thrills and enchants a natural transition.

The people’s commitment to quality and innovation is demonstrated by the gentle, hands-on approach of this winery. Grapes are handpicked and meticulously hand-sorted. A philosophy of minimal intervention is adhered to, as the main aim in this cellar is to allow the quality of the fruit to stand proud.

We believe in balance and elegance and that’s why we nurture the wine long before the grape is born. Minimal intervention is key when creating our superb wines full of flavour and soft tannins to show off the elegance associated with the Old World, but with the intense fruit flavours of the New.
