Neil Pendock has started a debate on Fairtrade-”Fairtrade wine: bogus and a scam?” on his blog.  Some valid points are raised-especially in regards to perceptions and mind set. We are Fairtrade accredited and extremely proud of the fact that Fairtrade is a way of life-not a bargaining tool. Through our efforts there is social and skills development, and we are responsible in our actions in regards to the environment. The most important thing still being the quality of our wines and the authenticity of our venture.

Or maybe not! The pulp I`m referring to is that of Pinotage. Beautiful purple/crimson  juice-maybe the most rewarding cultivar to work with purely because of  the instant gratification of oodles of colour. Loving it!

2010 Harvest,Wine Making | Tags: , — Corlea Fourie @ 5:02 am

We harvested our Pinotage grapes early yesterday. It had a cool night in our cold storage room and we are gearing up to let it be sorted by 16 dedicated hands-all looking for that last green stalk that shouldn`t come anywhere near Tank 18. Just to give you a sneak preview of our Pinotage, I added a video clip  which was made at the WOSA Mega Tasting in October last year. Peter May asked me about our Pinotage 2008-and this is what I had to say. (Actually trying out all the interesting applications on Word Press!) Bosman Family Vineyards Pinotage 2008

The time has come to tread onto new territory. Out from the comforting vineyards and cellar that we love, into the blogosphere! There can be no better time than the present - starting with a new harvest.  We hope this blog  will give you the chance  to take a intimate look into our lives and how we live the brand.

Bon Vintage to all our friends in the wine industry!

The harvest of 2009 was celebrated by every Wellington Wine Farm participating in the annual Wellington Harvest Festival. We at Bosman Family Vineyards dropped down a gear to host “The Long Lunch” in a typical lazy, Sunday jazzy-style on the picturesque grounds in front of the cellar. It was well celebrated, with more than double the amount of guests than the previous year.

Visitors enjoyed winemaker cellar tours & tastings, wholesome country food catered by Marc’s Restaurant & the Deli, while kids explored the estate grounds on the back of Amado ponies (www.amado.co.za ).

In March 2010, we will see you again in celebration of wine, friendship, harvest and summer country life!

SA’s favourite rock band, the Parlotones, paid us a visit last week whilst filming their latest wine video clip soon to be seen in selected stores and on the net. Parlotones decided that Bosman Family Vineyards was the perfect setting for their Wine Video Clip featuring their blend of Pinotage, Cabernet and Shiraz. They will call it a ‘Giant Mistake’ after a song in their album, ‘A World Next Door To Yours’. Contrary to some media reports, the wine was not made on the estate; it was simply selected as the location for their video.
